Role: Tool Technician / CNC Machinist

Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 DOE + Overtime + Profit Share Bonus + Benefits

Location: Fradley, Staffordshire

Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week | Rotating Morning & Afternoon Shifts

Overview

Our client is a highly respected precision engineering manufacturer supplying specialist components and tooling solutions into a range of industries including aerospace, automotive, and advanced manufacturing. Due to continued investment and long-term succession planning, they are seeking a skilled Tool Technician to join their close-knit engineering team.

This position would suit an apprenticeship-trained engineer from a CNC Machining, Toolmaking, Tool & Cutter Grinding, Milling, Turning, Precision Engineering, Manufacturing, or similar engineering background who is looking to join a stable business that genuinely invests in its people.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machinery within a precision engineering environment
  • Manufacture, modify, and maintain specialist tooling and engineered components
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and CAD models
  • Carry out machine adjustments, tooling changes, and process optimisation
  • Perform first-off inspections and quality checks using precision measuring equipment
  • Monitor machining operations and ensure products meet required tolerances
  • Complete routine machine maintenance and basic fault finding
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across production processes
  • Maintain accurate production and quality documentation

Requirements

  • Apprenticeship-trained engineer or recognised Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 2/3 or above)
  • Background in CNC Machining, Milling, Turning, Toolmaking, Grinding, Precision Engineering, Manufacturing, Maintenance, or similar
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience using measuring and inspection equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn specialist processes and equipment
  • Good communication skills and ability to work within a team environment
