Transport Admin Officer (Contract – 3 months)

Location: Morden, UK – Fully OnsiteContract type: 3 months – Payrate: £20.96 per hour (PAYE) / £25.70 per hour (Umbrella)

Role Overview

Assist the Passenger Operations and Fleet Manager, and Supervisors in delivering transport provision for SEN and Adult and Social Care service users. Provide administrative support, communication to staff, KPI data entry, route planning and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing safe, efficient passenger transport services and monitor and report performance.
  • Monitor standards of work for drivers, attendants and passenger assistants ensuring certification (DBS, Driver CPC, Midas, PATs etc.).
  • Conduct spot checks on vehicles to ensure safety and legal compliance.
  • Train and support drivers, passenger assistants and other staff; identify training needs and arrange delivery.
  • Work closely with all departments to shape future development and meet community needs, liaising with parents/guardians.
  • Prepare high quality correspondence in line with departmental policy.
  • Lead and manage staff, including recruitment, performance management, sickness monitoring, training and workload management.
  • Maintain partnerships with stakeholders and partner boroughs (e.g. Children, Schools and Families Department, Community and Housing Department, SLWP, Police, TfL, Faith groups).
  • Assist in commissioning, contact and relationship management to meet service standards.
  • Use technology to improve service efficiency and effectiveness.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of Transport-related services, operational and regulatory matters.
  • Financial procedures including budget management and reporting.
  • Understanding of Road Transport Act, Driver & Vehicle Licensing Requirements and Council policy on safeguarding.
  • Knowledge of DBS, equal opportunities and Investors in People principles.
  • Ability to carry out risk assessments, route planning, scheduling and optimisation of resources.
  • Excellent communication with staff, clients, carers, agencies and senior managers.
  • Ability to develop and monitor operational statistics, analyse data and make recommendations.
  • Capacity to support teams to achieve strategic goals, manage workload and meet deadlines.
  • Creative problem‑solving, proactive and flexible approach to service improvements.
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to identify opportunities.
  • Good IT skills, highly proficient in Microsoft Office 365 suite.

Experience

  • Experience delivering and developing transport services.
  • Experience building effective relationships with partners, suppliers, providers and the voluntary sector.
