About the Role
We are recruiting receptionists and admin assistants to join our Reception Desk Team. It is a busy and enjoyable role where you will work with a team of supportive staff members who provide admin support for the reception desks across the Trust, including Pinderfields, Pontefract and Dewsbury Hospitals, CDC in Wakefield and the Surgical Hub in Dewsbury.
Primary responsibilities include meeting and greeting patients, managing appointments, booking follow‑ups and escalating capacity issues. Liaising with all levels of staff across the Trust is a daily requirement and requires strong customer service, communication and IT literacy.
Please note that this role is not on the Home Office list of occupations eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route.

Working Pattern & Hours
- Full‑time (37.5 hours per week) and part‑time roles available.
- The post includes Saturday working.
- Working pattern: 5 over 7 days, including evenings and weekends.
- Interviews will be face‑to‑face at one of the hospital sites.
- Interview process includes an IT/admin test.
Responsibilities
As a receptionist and admin assistant you will be expected to meet and greet patients, attend patients on the systems and outcome the appointment accordingly as instructed by the clinician, and perform other related duties. You will book follow‑up appointments, manage capacity issues and communicate consistently with staff. You will be required to be IT literate and undertake extensive training to use the Trust’s IT systems.
Qualifications
- Sound educational background: 5 GCSEs grade C or above or equivalent knowledge.
- Good written and verbal English.
- NVQ 2 Customer Care, equivalent experience or other relevant qualification.
Experience
- Experience working with a variety of computer software programmes.
- Experience working in a demanding environment.
- Experience of face‑to‑face customer service.
- Ability to follow written information.
Knowledge & Awareness
- Knowledge of GDPR and awareness of confidentiality.
- Awareness of own limitations.
- Ability to handle sensitive and potentially conflicting situations.
