The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated Social Worker to join our Community Learning Disability Team. The ideal candidate is dynamic, innovative and committed, with experience of working with people with a learning disability.

We are passionate about delivering a quality service to our customers, working collaboratively, building relationships and partnerships that deliver the best outcomes for residents and customers.

You will be joining a high‑performing, supportive and dedicated team in a genuinely integrated multi‑disciplinary environment, where sharing experience and learning is valued and welcomed.

The Community Learning Disability Team does everything possible to ensure an efficient and effective service to the residents of Bolton. This involves:

  • Detailed assessment of need (Care Act) and effective asset‑based support planning, taking into account available resources, universal and voluntary services.
  • Carer assessments.
  • Capacity assessment and best‑interest decision making.
  • Continuing Health Care assessments.
  • Inter‑disciplinary and multi‑agency working.

Experience of resettlement from out‑of‑area placements back into the local area, transition work for young adults moving into Adult Services, supporting individuals to move on from their families, and safeguarding investigations is preferable but not exclusive. We welcome applications from newly qualified Social Workers and offer extensive support through ASYE and for Continuing Professional Development.

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a passion for working with adults with Learning Disabilities, understanding their needs, aspirations and supporting them to enhance their quality of life.

You will develop and maintain relationships with team members, external organisations, service users and carers, and actively participate in multidisciplinary team working and decision making.

You will be able to remain focused and motivated, manage and prioritise your workload in a hybrid working environment comprising both office and non‑office based settings.

You will have an understanding of relevant and future legislation, guidance and good practice.

You will be resilient, adaptable and capable of working effectively with colleagues from other professional disciplines.

The post is subject to enhanced clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service and registration with Social Work England.
