Vesta Road Surgery is based in Brockley.
We are looking for an applicant to join us as a Receptionist/Administrator.
We are a warm and friendly practice, which offers really interesting and varied patient caseloads, and a fantastic work-life balance. You’ll be joining a well-established team. We have a prominently young patient population with many generations of patients who have stayed registered with our practice for many years. We see ourselves as a traditional family GP surgery and have established a good rapport with our patients.
Main duties of the job
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person, virtually or via the telephone.

Job responsibilities
Administration
- To have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures
- To work in accordance with written protocols
- Pulling/filing notes for surgeries and update as necessary
- Filing clinical documents and post into medical records
- Photocopy as requested
- Dealing with the generic e mails
- Dealing with the document management system
- Taking part in team meetings
Reception
- Receiving patients and consulting with members of practice team
- Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address
- Be able to cover all reception duties as necessary
Appointments
- Process appointment requests for today future appointments from patients by telephone, online (e-consult), virtually and in person
- Deal with visits requests
Computer
- Registrations of new patients computer data entry and medical records.
- Process patients change of address computer data and medical records (have knowledge of Practice area
- Process repeat prescription request in accordance with Practice guidelines
Telephone
- Have working knowledge of the telephone system during and after hours
- Cover for telephone switchboard when necessary and offer to do overtime when required
Other Tasks
- Ensure building security have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm
- Take it in turns to make tea/coffee for the practice team
- Take on any other tasks allocated by the managers
- To be a trained Fire Warden for the practice

Person Specification
Qualifications
- GCSE grade A – D English and Maths.

Experience
- Previous patient or customer service experience.
- Experience in a patient or customer focused position.
