We are looking to recruit 1 full time progressed Social Worker in the Adults with Learning Disabilities Service. Applications from newly qualified Social workers (non-progressed / grade 8 post) may also be considered. The postholder will be based in the Chester/Ellesmere Port team (Lightfoot Lodge, Hoole) however will be expected to undertake work across the whole council footprint.

We are looking for dedicated and highly motivated team players to join us as Social Workers working in line with the Care Act 2014. Our Social Workers play a critical role in supporting people to develop creative and innovative solutions to meet the outcomes they want to achieve. The postholder will be required to manage complex cases and undertake assessments under the Mental Capacity Act 2005; the role will include producing applications to the Court of Protection and associated assessments/care plans.

You will have:

  • CQSW/CSS/Diploma/Degree in Social Work or equivalent (Essential)
  • At least 2 years post qualifying experience (Essential)
  • Social Work England Registration (Essential)
  • Be required to undertake an enhanced DBS plus Adults Barred List (Essential)
  • Statutory and policy base of Social Work (Essential)
  • Appreciation of recent developments in service provision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, carers and families.
  • Ability to cope positively with change and an ability to promote positive changes to make a difference.
  • Awareness of importance of multi-disciplinary working and an integrated approach.
  • Ability to carry out assessment and support planning in line with relevant legislation.
  • You are confident, energetic and enthusiastic as well as sensitive and resilient.
  • Self-motivating individual with the passion to make a difference in adult social care.
  • Resilient personal stress management.

Role Specific Requirements:

  • A Best Interest Assessor qualification and relevant post qualifying experience (desirable)
  • Significant Social Work experience (Progressed Social Worker)
  • Experience in completing Court of Protection Applications (COP3, COP24 and COP Dol 11)
  • The ability to prioritise your workload and make decisions concerning people’s liberty.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner.
  • The ability to use IT systems with confidence and to be able to produce reports of a high standard that will bear legal scrutiny.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and other related legislation and the codes of practice
