Overview

Children Social Care in Warrington is recruiting Early Help Social Workers for the Duty and Assessment Team. The team provides initial assessment of children and families to determine ongoing support needs at Child in Need and Section 47.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with early help services to support families during the initial assessment period.
  • Conduct assessments at Child in Need and within Section 47 to determine levels of need.
  • Collaborate with multi‑agency teams to improve early intervention and safeguarding processes.
  • Model and promote excellent practice within the team.
  • Maintain accurate records and present information using IT systems.
  • Support decision making for child protection when required.

Qualifications

  • Recognised social work qualification.
  • SWE registration.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, government policy and guidance.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work to deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication with service users, carers, colleagues and other agencies.
  • Ability to adapt to change, negotiate, problem solve and make decisions.
  • Self‑motivated, flexible and able to use own initiative.
  • Positive approach to managing stress and working under pressure.
