Community Engagement & Volunteer Practitioner

Job Summary

One YMCA is seeking a Community Engagement & Volunteering Coordinator to support Family Centre services across local communities. You will work with the Community Engagement & Volunteering Lead and Locality Managers to identify community needs, develop volunteering opportunities, and ensure inclusive, high-quality services for families.

Responsibilities

• Identify gaps in local provision and support service development with partners
• Recruit, induct, train, and supervise volunteers (100+ hours/month)
• Develop volunteering, student, and work experience opportunities
• Track volunteer hours and produce reports (monthly/quarterly/annual)
• Support Family Centre operations (bookings, enquiries, risk assessments, checks)
• Deliver outreach and community pop-ups independently
• Work with partners to promote local learning and support opportunities
• Maintain local information points and attend multi-agency meetings

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience with volunteer coordination and community engagement
• Strong communication, IT (MS Office/CRM), and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage sensitive conversations
• Experience working to KPIs and service quality standards
• Full UK driving licence
• Access to vehicle
• Business insurance essential
• Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
• DBS check may be required

Working Hours

Part‑time role: 30 hours per week. Working pattern Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 8:30am‑4:30pm with a 30‑minute break. Wednesday is a non‑working day.
