Blue Arrow Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our client for a Tooling & Maintenance Technician. Salary: £39,188 per annum + overtime. Hours: 7:00am – 3:00pm. Salary Band: (unspecified). We are looking for a skilled Tooling & Maintenance Technician to join a growing aerospace MRO organisation operating within an EASA/CAA/FAA Part 145 environment. This hands‑on role is ideal for someone with a strong engineering background who enjoys problem‑solving, supporting production teams, and maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and airworthiness.
The Role
Tooling Management & Compliance
- Manage the issue, return, storage, and control of tooling across the facility.
- Maintain tooling inspection and calibration schedules, ensuring expired or unserviceable tools are quarantined.
- Ensure tooling complies with EASA/CAA/FAA Part 145 regulations, customer requirements, and internal procedures.
- Support production teams by ensuring the correct tooling is available to meet operational priorities and turnaround times.
- Raise purchase requests, source replacement tooling, and coordinate repairs with approved suppliers.
- Maintain accurate tooling records, databases, and traceability documentation.
- Coordinate servicing, repair, and refurbishment of tooling and specialist equipment.
- Identify opportunities to improve tooling control processes and minimise downtime.
- Promote safe handling, storage, and use of tooling in line with Health & Safety requirements.
Fabrication & Workshop Support
- Fabricate, modify, and weld jigs, fixtures, shop aids, and specialist tooling.
- Provide engineering solutions to improve workshop efficiency and quality.
- Operate manual machining equipment, including mills and lathes (desirable).
Engineering Support
- Provide practical engineering support across the business.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, geometric tolerances, and technical specifications.
- Work closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to deliver compliant and efficient repair solutions.
Metrology & Specialist Equipment
- Use advanced metrology equipment, including Faro laser trackers and scanning arms (desirable).
- Support work involving composite materials and carbon fibre components (desirable).
Essential Requirements
- Recognised engineering qualification or equivalent engineering experience.
- Experience within an aerospace MRO, manufacturing, or engineering environment.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Competent using digital and analogue measuring equipment.
- IT literate with experience using computerised maintenance or tooling management systems.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of EASA/CAA/FAA Part 145 regulations.
- Experience with tooling inspection, calibration, and traceability systems.
- Experience operating manual milling machines and lathes.
- Experience using Faro laser trackers or other specialist metrology equipment.
- Knowledge of composite materials and carbon fibre repairs.
