The Role

Tameside’s Missing from Home Service is seeking a committed and motivated Intervention Worker to join our dynamic multi‑agency team. Working alongside Greater Manchester Police and the Complex Safeguarding Team, you will play a key role in safeguarding children who go missing from home or care and are at increased risk of harm, including exploitation.

This is a rewarding and fast‑paced role where you will build meaningful relationships with young people and families, contribute to early intervention and prevention, and support improved outcomes for vulnerable children.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver timely, trauma‑informed and child‑centred Return Home Interviews, enabling children and young people to share their experiences and have their voices heard.
  • Identify and analyse the push and pull factors contributing to missing episodes, assess risk and inform safeguarding planning.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including attending multi‑agency meetings and risk management forums, to support coordinated safeguarding responses.
  • Accurately record information, maintain high‑quality case records and share intelligence and safeguarding concerns with relevant professionals in a timely manner to reduce risk and prevent repeat missing episodes.

About You

We are looking for a professional who is compassionate, curious, collaborative, conversational and courageous, with strong skills in risk assessment, case management and working within a multi‑agency environment.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in child protection, safeguarding or social work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to record detailed case notes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team within a fast‑paced environment.
  • Knowledge of child safeguarding procedures and statutory duties.
  • Willingness to undergo enhanced with barred list disclosure procedures.
