Job Overview
You will work in a team of experienced Learning Support Assistants under the direct supervision of the SENCO and Deputy SENCO. This role involves supporting children requiring additional support needs in a school setting as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant.
Responsibilities
- Maintain normal working hours of 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, with additional availability for meetings outside of these hours (time off in lieu accrued).
- Participate in INSET training days and TWILIGHT evenings throughout the academic year.
- Be fully aligned with the school’s approach to supporting a behavioural and learning culture.
- Strive to surpass current achievements and contribute to academic, creative, sporting, linguistic and personal development.
- Build effective relationships with students, deal with unexpected situations during the school day, and manage your own workload and prioritise tasks appropriately.
- Support staff, students, parents and external agencies through excellent oral and written communication.
- Adopt a warm/strict, results‑driven approach that meets high standards while caring for all students.
- Ensure the school’s behavioural standards, systems, rituals and norms are upheld.
Qualifications & Skills
- Prior experience working with children who have additional support needs as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant.
- Excellent IT skills, organisational ability and a strong team‑playing attitude.
- Ability to build relationships with students and manage unexpected situations effectively.
- Willingness to undertake further training as required.
- Fluent spoken English, as required by Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.
