Young Persons Support Worker
Location: Builth Wells, Powys, Wales
Salary: £13.68 – £28.40 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)
As a Young Persons Support Worker, you will support children and young people who may be experiencing homelessness, substance misuse, mental health challenges and trauma. You will work in a supportive team environment and enjoy a competitive hourly rate.
Key Responsibilities
- Support children and young people with day‑to‑day activities and interests.
- Promote independence and wellbeing for young people in your care.
- Attend weekends away, holidays and trips away with the children (as required).
- Support weekend and evening activities, ranging from everyday interests to trips away.
- Protect children and young people from risks to health and welfare.
- Provide emotional and practical support within the young person’s home.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of care plans and guidelines to ensure safety.
- Support, manage and help minimise incidents when behaviour can be challenging.
Qualifications
- Desire to create positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.
- Empathetic, caring and resilient approach.
- At least 6 months’ experience working with children or in a similar social care setting.
- Restraint training: restraint trained, or willing to undergo a 3‑day course.
- Valid UK driving licence (required).
- TMVA / Restraint Training Certificate where applicable.
- Current Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one.
- Right to work in the UK.
Working Hours
09:30 – Sleep – 09:30, or 22:30 – 08:30
