What does a Support Worker do?
The role of a Support Worker is to ensure the people we work with are safe, happy and lead fulfilling lives. Supporting someone with a learning disability is not just about personal care, it is so much more. It involves supporting people to enhance, broaden themselves and what they do physically, emotionally and socially: developing their environments and communications, learning new life skills such as cooking, seeking new choices and opportunities, engaging in education and social interactions. Even if some people have more complex behavioural needs, you will meet their needs by offering the same opportunities in the best way that supports them.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
You do not need to have worked in supported living before to be a good Support Worker. If you are caring, kind and patient with a zest for life and a good sense of fun we want to hear from you. Ideally you will already hold a Level 2 Health and Social Care Diploma; if not, we will support you to achieve this. You will need to have great communication skills, both speaking and listening, be comfortable making decisions, and have a basic level of English and Math.
Benefits
- Competitive salary of £13.45 per hour (with additional payments for sleep‑ins) and a guaranteed monthly salary for full and part‑time roles regardless of shift patterns.
- Annualised hours, overtime opportunities, flexible working hours for work‑life balance.
- 28 days Annual Leave including bank Holidays (pro Rata).
- Employee support line, free nationally accredited training, opportunity to earn a qualification and progress your career.
- Contributory Pension Scheme, free DBS check.
