Community Champion Volunteer – North Nottinghamshire

Heart and circulatory disease touch us all. Affecting young and old alike, it is the UK’s biggest killer which 7.6 million people in the UK live with. British Heart Foundation (BHF) is committed to funding half a billion pounds of new research over the next five years, which will be central to discovering vital treatments for such conditions.

While many people have heard about BHF, they’re not always aware of the full extent of our work. Join us as a BHF Community Champion Volunteer to help educate more people about the importance of our work and create amazing fundraising opportunities in your local area. You will be joining an empowered network of dedicated fundraisers who help the BHF to save and improve lives. Quite simple, without volunteers like you, the BHF could not continue its pioneering work.

We are looking for volunteers who can bring their leadership skills and passion for the BHF to life locally. This role can work flexibly to suit your availability and other commitments. We may ask you to:

  • Support your local Fundraising Manager and their team to representtheBHFinyourcommunity and help promote our work and increase fundraising opportunities
  • Activelyengageandbuildrelationshipswithlocalgroupsandassociations.
  • GivetalksandshortpresentationsabouttheBHFand inspireotherstosupportour life saving work.
  • Acceptfundraising donationson behalf of the BHFfromcommunitygroups and organisations, attending cheque collections and saying a few words of thanks.
  • Act as a lead volunteer at local BHF events like collections and Cheer Points, and manage and support our Action team volunteers on the day.
  • Support and facilitate a RevivR session

By volunteering with the BHF, you will have the opportunity touseyourskillstosupporttheBHFandhavefun.You willbe makinga significant difference to the lives of heart patients today and future generations by raising vital, lifesaving funds to power our ground-breaking research.

This role covers North Nottinghamshire and areas around Retford and Worksop

The time commitment needed for this role will vary depending on the time of year and number of groups and associations actively supporting the BHF within your local area.

Training and Support

All our volunteers play a crucial role in our mission to outsmart heart disease and we’ll support you every step of the way. As a Community Champion Volunteer, you’ll receive:

  • AcomprehensiveinductiontotheBHFandtrainingfortherole.
  • Resources to support you in your role e.g. presentations.
  • Supportfromyourlocal FundraisingManager and the BHF’s Fundraising Support Team.
  • The opportunity to gain and develop skills and to meet other volunteer

Expenses

The BHF is committed to ensuring that no volunteer is out of pocket because of expenses incurred whilst carrying out their role.
