Responsibilities

We are looking for a reliable, self‑motivated Food Service Assistant / Cook to join our team on a 20‑hour contract. The role involves 2 tea shifts and 2 night shifts per week, working independently in a fast‑paced catering environment.

• Prepare and finish food produced by daytime kitchen staff
• Serve customers in a friendly, professional manner
• Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene, including correct temperature control for hot foods
• Complete cleaning duties and maintain a tidy working environment
• Monitor stock levels and report shortages
• Follow company policies and procedures at all times
• Open and close the service area independently

Shift Pattern

20 hours per week – 2 tea shifts, 2 night shifts. Flexibility may be required to support business needs.

Qualifications

• Previous catering, kitchen, or food‑service experience (preferred)
• Comfortable working independently and managing lone shifts
• Good communication and customer‑service skills
• Basic food hygiene knowledge
• Reliable, organised, and able to work under pressure
• Proven experience as a Commis Chef or a real passion for food
• Knowledge of cooking techniques and cuisines
• Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
