Beckfoot Thornton is seeking a committed and caring Pupil Support Worker to join the team from April 2026 on a long‑term or short‑term supply basis, with the potential to become permanent. This is a fantastic opportunity to support the wellbeing, behaviour, and learning of pupils—particularly vulnerable learners—within a welcoming and inclusive school community.
Responsibilities
- Support pupils’ wellbeing, behaviour, and attitude to learning.
- Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns in collaboration with colleagues and external professionals.
- Build positive relationships with families and encourage engagement with school life.
- Promote inclusion, independence, and positive values in pupils.
- Track and monitor behaviour, attendance, and safeguarding concerns.
- Make welfare calls and support strategies to improve attendance and punctuality.
- Assist with lesson planning, pastoral care, and behaviour management.
- Organise and support extracurricular and enrichment activities.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to the wider school environment.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally in education.
- Experience working with children with SEMH and/or SEN.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Excellent communication skills and a supportive, proactive approach.
- A team player with resilience, empathy, and a passion for helping young people thrive.
