Gardener

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Southwark to assist with the appointment of a Gardener on a 2‑month contract, highly likely to be extended at the client’s discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

The Gardener will be responsible for maintaining grassed areas, shrub beds, and landscaped spaces to a high standard, using a range of grounds‑maintenance equipment. This is a physically demanding role requiring previous experience with horticultural machinery and a full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Cut and maintain grassed areas using pedestrian and ride‑on mowers.
• Trim hedges, shrubs, and bushes to maintain attractive public spaces.
• Operate grounds‑maintenance equipment, including strimmers, hedge cutters, leaf blowers, and mowers.
• Maintain shrub beds, borders, and landscaped areas.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with health and safety procedures.
• Carry out routine grounds maintenance across council estates.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, or horticultural work.
• Experience operating grounds maintenance machinery is essential.
• Knowledge of safe working practices when using horticultural equipment.
• Full valid UK driving licence.
• Ability to undertake physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions.
