HGV Class 1 Driver – Temp to Perm Opportunity
4 on 4 off Shift Pattern – Darlington

The Best Connection is currently recruiting reliable and motivated HGV Class 1 Drivers for an exciting temp-to-perm opportunity with our well-established client based in Darlington. This is a fantastic chance to join a respected transport operation specialising in container transport, refrigerated trailers, and general haulage, with a wide variety of runs across the UK to keep every shift interesting.
Please note: You must be available to begin the 4 on 4 off shift rotation from 5th July.
Responsibilities
- Transporting containers, refrigerated trailers, and general haulage loads to destinations across the UK.
- Completing a variety of runs, ensuring no two weeks are the same.
- Carrying out daily vehicle checks and completing all relevant paperwork accurately.
- Providing excellent customer service at collection and delivery points.
- Early morning starts between 02:00 and 05:00.
- Representing The Best Connection and our client in a safe, professional, and courteous manner.
Qualifications
- A valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence.
- A valid Driver CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph Card.
- A minimum of 2 years’ HGV Class 1 driving experience is preferred.
- A good understanding of drivers’ hours legislation and road transport regulations.
- A reliable, professional, and flexible approach to work.
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
- The ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively.
Hours of Work
- Early start times between 02:00 and 05:00.
- 4 on 4 off shift pattern, providing an excellent work-life balance.
- Weekend working included as part of the rota.
Pay Rates
- £15.00 per hour – Monday to Friday.
- £18.00 per hour – Saturday.
- £19.00 per hour – Sunday.
