We have an exciting opportunity to join our GAP (Governance, Administration and Projects) team as an Administrator Apprentice, which will give you the chance to develop your administration skills whilst completing an SCQF Level 6 qualification in Digital Applications.
This is a fixed term contract for an initial period of 18 months. We expect that it will take you approximately 12 months of this to complete the qualification. Once completed, this programme will then open the door for potential further employment opportunities across our firm.
What will your role look like?
In this role you will work as a key part of our Actuarial Public Business Unit, collaborating with a wide range of colleagues across the team to deliver first‑class administration support to clients, who are predominantly local authorities administering the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).
Key responsibilities will include:
- Learning about the different systems we use, and building your confidence in working with these, including LGPS administration systems.
- Supporting colleagues with key administrative tasks within the Business Unit that feed into Management Information (MI) or responses to queries from our clients.
- Developing your understanding of the work we do, while learning how to carry out standardised calculations, including deferred benefit, benefit aggregation and transfer calculations.
- Producing training material such as process notes or PowerPoint slides that can be used internally and externally.
- Working with a designated in‑house mentor to reflect on your skills and knowledge development progress in line with your qualifications learning requirements.
- Adhering to the firm’s mandatory policies including Information Security standards.

- Educated to at least secondary school level, having studied and achieved a ‘pass’ in Maths at National 5 Level.
- A good level of IT skills (in particular the use of MS Office based software like MS Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), or the enthusiasm to learn more about the use of these in a professional setting.
- Applicants must meet the criteria for learner funding and course entry requirements as set by our external learning provider, QA.
