Job Description:

Location: Tewkesbury (initially based in Bishops Cleeve Cheltenham).

Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, is recruiting for an Electronic Repair Technician to join our Operations team where we support high‑quality maintenance, repair and overhaul of critical aerospace components. This role will be based at our Tewkesbury site, with initial onboarding and training taking place in Bishops Cleeve, Cheltenham.

Responsibilities

As an Electronic Repair Technician, you’ll diagnose, repair and return complex electronic products to service, ensuring they meet exacting aerospace quality and safety standards. Working within a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) environment, you’ll carry out detailed inspection, fault‑finding and repair activities at component level using diagnostic tools, technical drawings and engineering specifications.

You’ll be responsible for assembling, testing and inspecting products, maintaining accurate records within business systems, and ensuring full traceability throughout the repair process. Working closely with engineering, quality and operational teams, you’ll support investigations, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and help ensure products meet customer and regulatory requirements.

The role requires flexibility, including shift patterns (early, late and night) to support operational requirements.

Qualifications

  • Experience working at electronic component level within a manufacturing or engineering environment, ideally within aerospace or another regulated industry.
  • Proficient at interpreting circuit diagrams, engineering drawings and technical documentation, with a strong understanding of electronic principles and fault‑finding techniques.
  • Hands‑on approach, good dexterity, attention to detail, ability to work across multiple products while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Experience using test equipment, ERP systems and recording root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Recognised qualification in electronic engineering (HNC level or equivalent) or time‑served experience.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work collaboratively across teams, proactive mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
