Responsibilities
Support for Pupils
- Topromote pupils’ development in a safe, secure, challenging environment.
- Tohave regard for the safety and well‑being of the pupil at all times.
- Todevelop an understanding of the pupil’s specific needs in order to helpthem learn as effectively as possible.
- Tofocus on individual pupils to ensure their needs are being met within thegroup.
- Toencourage inclusion within the classroom.
- Topdisplay pupils’ work to reflect their achievement.
- Toencourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led bythe teacher.
- Toassist in the supervision of pupils on outings and visits.
- Toassist identified pupils with personal care.
Support for Teachers
- Toliaise with teachers regarding the daily/weekly programme of activitiesand events.
- Toset out, prepare, use, tidy and clean equipment after use. Assist in thegeneral preparation and tidying of the classroom.
- Togather information from parents/carers as requested.
- Toassist parents working in schools.
- Tobe aware of pupil problems/progress/achievements and report to theteacher as agreed.
- Tosupport pupil record keeping as requested.
- Towork within established disciplinary policy to anticipate and managebehaviour constructively, promoting self-control and independence.
Support for SENDCo
- Tocarry out administrative tasks in order to support SEND record keeping inline with the Code of Practice (2015)
Support for the Curriculum
- Toprepare and undertake specific activities and supporting pupils tounderstand instructions and in respect of any learning strategies.
- Tosupport pupils in using basic ICT as directed, developing pupil’scompetence and interdependence in its use.
- Toset out, prepare and maintain equipment, indoors and outdoors.
Support for the School
- Toassist with the general supervision of pupils during break times andlunch times and/or when required.
- Totreat all information relating to a pupil as strictly confidential, andrefer all enquiries, other than from professional, to theHeadteacher/SENDCO.
- Tosupport and encourage students on courses, Work Experience etc.
- takeresponsibility for own professional development and duties in relation toschool policies and practices and operate at all times within the statedpolicies and practices of the school.
- establisheffective working relationships and set a good example through excellentpresentation and personal and professional conduct.
- endeavourto give every child the opportunity to reach their potential and meethigh expectations.
- co-operatewith other staff to ensure a sharing and effective usage of resources tothe benefit of the school, department and students.

- Whenrequired, take part in marketing and liaison activities such as parentsevenings, inset days and any other appropriate school events.
- Whenrequired liaise effectively with parents and governors.
- Topromote the welfare of children and to support the school in safeguardingchildren though relevant policies and procedures.
- Establish a purposefuland safe learning environment which complies with current legalrequirements, national policies and guidance on the safeguarding andwell-being of children and young people so that learners feel secure andsufficiently confident to make an active contribution to learning and tothe school.
- To promoteequality as an integral part of the role and to treat everyone withfairness and dignity.

- To support theHeadteacher in promoting the Christian ethos of the school.
