Position Overview
The Medicine Department is recruiting an Administrative Assistant within the Emergency Care Department at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, Wigan.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional administrative service in the Emergency Care Centre.
- Meet and greet patients and visitors at the reception area with dignity and respect, ascertain their requirements and respond accordingly.
- Ensure high quality customer care in all daily activities.
- Register patients onto the computer system, requiring excellent keyboard skills.
Work Pattern
The service runs 24 hours, 7 days per week, so working unsociable hours such as weekends, bank holidays and internal rotation night duty is essential. Shift patterns include days, evenings, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous NHS experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Excellent communication skills to deal with distressed patients and relatives.
- Excellent keyboard typing skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt positively to a busy and demanding workplace.
