Brief overview of the vacancy: Apprentice Nursery Assistant supported by the Nursery Manager and Mini Tots Childcare and Education Team to complete either a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner or Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship while gaining hands‑on experience of working with children in a nursery setting.
Vacancy description:
- Undertake a developmental programme leading to an Early Years Qualification as part of an apprenticeship achieved within the given timescale.
- Actively participate in your own development plan with the qualification provider and nursery setting.
- Complete induction training with a named mentor.
- Keep your mentor informed of progress and raise any concerns.
- Support nursery staff to observe, plan and maintain accurate children’s records.
- Develop a sound understanding of safeguarding policies.
- Share responsibility for the care of children, health, safety and cleanliness throughout the nursery.

Training: Over 15‑18 months (depending on the level programme) you will study units such as health & safety in a childcare setting, holistic child development, safeguarding, child development, communication with children, purposeful play, educational programmes, supporting children with special educational needs, collaborative working, and wellbeing principles for children. Upon completion you will achieve a Level 2 or 3 Early Years qualification and a TQUK Diploma in Early Years. If you do not hold GCSE Maths & English, these will be delivered alongside the apprenticeship. Training is blended, delivered through face‑to‑face, video, telephone and peer virtual classrooms. Learning sessions are bi‑weekly or monthly and your progress is monitored through an e‑portfolio system. During the apprenticeship 20% of your work time is dedicated to developing new skills.
Additional information: All applicants must obtain a DBS check. The role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; all convictions, cautions and bind‑overs must be declared.
