Overview
Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council invites applications for the role of Planning Enforcement Technician. This position forms part of a dynamic and enthusiastic team responsible for managing land and building use across a largely urban area bordered by countryside and Green Belt, ensuring planning rules are enforced.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the delivery of the Council’s Planning Enforcement Service, focusing on investigations into breaches of planning control, monitoring development sites, and providing technical and administrative support.
- Investigate minor and less complex complaints and alleged breaches, conduct site inspections and visits.
- Provide advice to alleged offenders and complainants on planning and enforcement procedures, keeping them updated on complaint progress in line with policies and protocols.
- Check compliance with planning conditions and, with support from the Principal Planning Enforcement Officer, negotiate with developers when required.
- Maintain records, prepare reports, and contribute to team meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience dealing with the public in a service environment.
- Experience using computer packages.
- Ability to read plans, work to deadlines, and effectively organise one’s own workload.
- NVQ Level 2 on the National Skills Framework, including English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
