Teacher of the Deaf (Primary) – Hearing Impairment Resource Base Redbridge, East London. MPS4 – UPS3 (£226-£287 per day, dependent on experience). Full-Time. September2026 Start. Autumn Term.

Overview

Inspire, support, and champion deaf learners. At a highly regarded primary school in Redbridge, you will join the Hearing Impairment Resource Base to ensure deaf pupils thrive academically and socially within a mainstream environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist teaching for deaf pupils within the resource base and mainstream classrooms.
  • Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual communication and learning needs.
  • Support pupils’ language, literacy, and social development.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to promote inclusion across the school.
  • Monitor progress and contribute to personalised learning plans.
  • Build strong partnerships with parents, carers, and specialist services.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • A recognised Teacher of the Deaf (TOD) qualification (essential).
  • Minimum Level2 British Sign Language (BSL) qualification.
  • Experience supporting deaf children within a primary setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of the primary curriculum.
  • Adoption of a total communication approach and a commitment to inclusive practice.
  • Outstanding communication and collaborative working skills.
