Humanities Teacher (History and Geography)

2 days per week, Monday and Wednesdays

Start Date: September 2026

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Humanities Teacher for a mainstream secondary school focused on supporting neurodivergent students aged 7-19. The role involves delivering high‑quality Humanities lessons across History and Geography, primarily for Key Stage 3 with additional responsibilities at Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 4.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons across History and Geography.
  • Adapting teaching approaches to meet a wide range of learning needs, including neurodivergent learners.
  • Supporting students’ academic, social and emotional development.
  • Contributing to curriculum development for the Humanities.
  • Keeping up to date with curriculum changes.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Managing and directing teaching assistants effectively.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience working as a Humanities Teacher at secondary level.
  • Strong subject knowledge of History, Geography and/or RE.
  • Confidence teaching across key stages, particularly KS3.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons.
  • Commitment to inclusive education.
  • Strong behaviour management skills.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience teaching GCSE as a Humanities Teacher.
  • Experience supporting neurodivergent learners.
  • Knowledge of autism‑friendly approaches.
  • Experience working with KS2.
  • Willingness to contribute to wider school life.
