Role Overview
As a One-to-One Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting individual pupils and helping them access learning in a meaningful and engaging way. You may provide dedicated 1:1 support or work with small groups of up to six pupils, assist the class teacher during lessons and learning activities, and help with lesson preparation, planning, and classroom organisation.
Responsibilities
- Monitor pupil progress and communicate observations with teaching staff
- Support pupils during non‑classroom time, including extracurricular activities and school trips
- Set and mark work under teacher guidance, where appropriate
- Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage engagement and learning
Qualifications
- Strong educational background, ideally to A‑Level, including GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths
- Previous experience in a Teaching Assistant or similar support role
- Experience working with pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Confidence supporting behaviour management strategies
- Ability to take initiative and contribute to wider school activities (e.g. lunchtime support, enrichment sessions, forest school, or similar)
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning
