The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced PSV Technician to join a fast-paced transport operation. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, leads from the front, and prioritises both operational performance and safety excellence.

You will be responsible for driving workshop efficiency, ensuring high-quality vehicle maintenance, and leading a team to deliver against strict KPIs and service standards.

Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership

  • Oversee all scheduled and reactive maintenance activities to ensure KPI and SLA delivery
  • Ensure high standards of vehicle repair in line with workshop and regulatory requirements
  • Manage workload planning and preventative maintenance schedules
  • Maintain accurate job card completion, defect reporting, and parts procurement
  • Promote strong customer service, effective risk management, and efficient resource utilisation

Team Management & Development

  • Lead, coach, and support workshop teams, including apprentices
  • Provide guidance on diagnostics, repair methods, and quality standards
  • Foster a positive, collaborative can-do team culture
  • Drive engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement across the team

Health & Safety

  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure full compliance with relevant regulations
  • Ensure correct use, testing, and certification of all workshop equipment (e.g. PAT, LOLER)
  • Monitor environmental compliance, including safe disposal of hazardous materials
  • Report incidents, near misses, and risks through appropriate channels

Continuous Improvement & Change

  • Identify and implement innovative solutions to operational challenges
  • Support and lead change initiatives within the workshop environment

What We’re Looking For Experience

  • At least 2+ years’ management experience in a similar workshop environment
  • Strong background working with HGVs (essential)
  • Experience within transport, fleet, or aviation-related industries (desirable)

Qualifications & Requirements

  • City & Guilds Level 3 (essential)
  • Health & Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH or equivalent)
  • Full UK Manual Driving Licence
  • PCV Licence (desirable)
  • Comfortable using MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.)
  • Ability to obtain security clearance for restricted environments
