About the Role
We are seeking a fully qualified Anatomical Pathology Technologist (APT) to join our small, specialised team, working with the Mortuary Manager to support the Coroner’s service in a newly modernised facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist pathologists in post-mortems (approximately 200–300 per year).
- Perform high-standard reconstructions and facilitate viewings in the new family area.
- Maintain the facility’s standards in line with Human Tissue Authority (HTA) legislation and Data Protection guidelines.
- Ensure full electronic traceability of all documentation and support day‑to‑day building upkeep.
- Deputise for the Mortuary Manager when required.
Qualifications & Skills
- RIPHH Certificate and Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology or an equivalent Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Science (APT).
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of legal remits, HTA codes of practice and the Public Health Act 1984.
- Ability to provide tact and sensitivity when supporting bereaved relatives during viewings.
- Physical capability to move weights with mechanical aids and maintain concentration during technical procedures.
- Capacity to work independently or as part of a team, handling distressing cases with professionalism.
