Senior Care Assistant (Respite and Response)
Location: Racecourse Road, Ayr
Hours: 28 Hours / 10.5 Hour Weekday Shifts / Weekend 7.5
Job Summary
A wonderful opportunity has arisen within the Ayrshire Hospice community team to provide exceptional palliative care to patients with life limiting illness across Ayrshire and Arran. The successful applicant will deliver personal care and planned respites to patients in their own homes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred, holistic care in the patient’s own home setting, including practical nursing care, emotional, social and psychological support.
- Support patients with specialist palliative care needs and provide support to their families and carers.
- Actively participate in the delivery of evidence-based person-centred specialist palliative care, support and advice.
- Collaborate with the hospice multi-disciplinary team and other health and social care professionals, including primary care.
- Rotate across hospice departments to enhance and develop knowledge, skills, and experience, ensuring a complete understanding of patients’ journeys.
- Coach and mentor less experienced team members, demonstrating sound clinical knowledge and leadership skills.
- Provide education for other health and social care professionals within community and hospital settings.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Palliative care experience is advantageous.
- Desire to undertake further training within the role.
- Full driving licence and access to own vehicle essential.
- Strong communication, teamwork and leadership abilities.
