Role Overview
Are you a caring and compassionate Healthcare Support Worker interested in developing your skills in a Health and Justice setting? You could become an essential part of our multi‑disciplined team, providing individualized care for patients in a prison environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized care for patients in a prison setting.
- Screen reception, provide agreed care packages, and undertake appropriate physical health observations.
- Participate in clinics such as Phlebotomy, ECG, NHS health checks, sexual health, and health promotion.
Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ Level3 and a good level of care experience.
- Genuine interest in Secure Services; a Vocational qualification at Level2 or equivalent (e.g., GCSE grades 9‑4).
- Prepared to study and complete a Level3 qualification (equivalent to an A Level or BTEC National level).
- Knowledge of basic healthcare issues.
- Computer literate, able to use Microsoft Office and standard keyboard skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, maintaining good working relationships and mitigating conflict.
- Good understanding of confidentiality.
- Desirable: Experience in a multi‑disciplinary team setting.
- Holding or working towards a relevant Health Care certificate (e.g., Care Course).
- Knowledge or experience of working in a prison or secured environment.
- Good patient assessment skills, including knowledge of signs and symptoms of a range of mental and physical disorders and their effects on individuals.
