Primary Teaching Assistant – SEN Support

Tradewind Recruitment is looking for a caring, patient and dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism (ASD), ADHD and other Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a welcoming primary school in the DE11 area.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with ASD, ADHD and associated learning needs.
• Provide 1:1 and small group interventions.
• Implement strategies to support engagement, communication and emotional regulation.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering an inclusive learning environment.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and staff.
• Support pupils during lessons, break times and transitions throughout the school day.

Ideal Candidate

• Experience working with children in a school, nursery, care or youth work setting.
• Understanding of Autism, ADHD and additional learning needs.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Passionate about supporting children to overcome barriers to learning.
• Relevant TA qualifications are desirable but not essential.
