Role Overview

At QinetiQ, we’re creating tomorrow’s defence technology. As a UAS Senior Technician at our Boscombe Down site, you will work with cutting‑edge technology alongside brilliant minds.

Responsibilities

• Building, functional testing, repairing, and disassembly of Uncrewed Systems and associated payloads according to approved data.
• Operating and maintaining Uncrewed Systems during trials.
• Problem solving and fault diagnosis on Uncrewed Systems and related equipment.
• Ensuring every effort is made to meet customer target requirements.
• Applying all relevant standards from Air Publications, OEM Manuals, QinetiQ Operating Framework, and CAA Regulatory Publications.

Essential Experience

• 3‑5 years of experience working in a regulated, safety‑focused environment on Uncrewed Systems.
• UAS flying experience.
• Knowledge of a variety of Uncrewed Systems technologies.
• High level of IT competence and the ability to learn new systems.
• Experience using online manuals and maintenance recording solutions.

Essential Qualifications

• CAA Remote Piloting qualifications (Highly desirable).
• Engineering qualification (Mechanical, Aerospace or Electrical) or completion of a relevant apprenticeship.
• Professional registration as an Eng Tech or ability to progress to Eng Tech.
• Full UK driving licence.

All applicants must be eligible for SC clearance as a minimum.

Working Hours & Location

37 hours per week, based at our Boscombe Down site with a minimum average attendance of three days per week. Flexible working patterns are available; travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
