Role Overview
The Health Care Assistant is a member of the care team appointed to support the theatre team in the delivery of patient care. The role involves contact on a physical and psychological level with patients and the theatre team, and the post holder will undertake a range of activities under the supervision of a registered nurse, having been assessed and deemed competent in the activities required.
Key Responsibilities
- Support registered nurses and operating department practitioners in implementing an agreed plan of care in association with the patient.
- Provide support and assistance to qualified staff, assist with the transportation of patients, monitor and maintain stock and complete relevant documentation correctly.
- Assist the team in maintaining high standards of care delivery and ensure that service users’ needs are met.
