We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist education setting on the outskirts of Horsham. This rewarding role focuses on supporting students with their Maths and English learning, helping them build confidence, develop key skills, and achieve positive educational outcomes.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Learning Support Assistants, Teaching Assistants, graduates, or individuals with strong Maths and English skills who are looking to make a genuine difference within specialist education.

Please note: Due to the school’s rural location, a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.

The Role

As a Maths & English Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support students both within lessons and through targeted interventions. You will help learners overcome barriers to education, improve their literacy and numeracy skills, and develop confidence in their abilities.

You will build positive relationships with students and play an important role in supporting both academic progress and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students in Maths and English lessons on a 1:1 and small-group basis
  • Deliver targeted literacy and numeracy interventions
  • Help students develop confidence, resilience, and independent learning skills
  • Adapt support strategies to meet individual learning needs
  • Assist with classroom activities and differentiated learning tasks
  • Encourage positive engagement and participation in learning
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and wider support staff

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Tutor, or Support Worker
  • Has strong Maths and English skills
  • Is confident supporting students with additional learning needs
  • Is patient, encouraging, and adaptable
  • Builds positive relationships with young people
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Is passionate about helping students achieve their potential
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle
