About the Role
Rate of Pay: £14.18 per hour, increasing to £15.45 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, with flexibility for part‑time work (minimum 12 hours). Availability is based on the following windows and will be scheduled with at least three weeks’ notice.
- Wednesday: 19:00 to 23:00
- Thursday: 19:00 to 23:00
- Friday: 19:00 to 23:00
- Saturday: 19:00 to 23:00
Customers are central to everything we do. As our Customer Delivery Driver you will be the face of Tesco, delivering customer orders and providing a welcoming experience.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the van and trays are clean and organised.
- Keep the back yard tidy and pick up litter.
- Wash trays as part of the tray wash process.
- Load the van, checking for roadworthiness.
- Communicate with customers regarding order changes, substitutions and refunds.
- Treat products/deliveries with care as if they were your own.
- Explain to customers that no additional charge will be applied for substitutions.
- Deliver during the customer’s allocated time slot.
- Call the customer before arriving if early.
- Notify the store or centre if you are 30 minutes or more late.
Requirements
- Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit and improve the store experience.
- Be warm, welcoming and courteous to both customers and colleagues.
- Respond quickly to changing customer needs and embrace change within the store.
- Be energetic and driven, balancing home and work to achieve an optimal work‑life balance.
- Share ideas with the manager and colleagues to improve the store for customers.
- Hold a UK/EU/EEA full (or automatic) driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than three penalty points.
- Adhere to GB domestic driving rules.
