Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £14.18 an hour; this increases to £15.45 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week, with a flexible option down to 12 hours.
Availability windows are as follows:
- Sun 19:00–23:00
- Wed 09:00–19:00
- Fri 09:00–18:00
- Sat 09:00–19:00
About the role
The face of Tesco on the road, you will deliver customer shopping trips from Lands’ End to John O’Groats. The role is more than driving – it involves helping customers, providing excellent service, and being a friendly representative of the company.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the van and trays are clean and organised.
- Leave the back yard clean, tidy and clear of rubbish, picking up litter where seen.
- Wash trays as part of the tray wash process.
- Load the van as required and check it for roadworthiness.
- Communicate with customers about changes to their order, including short‑code items and substitutions, and offer refunds for unsatisfied items.
- Treat all products and deliveries with care, as if they were your own.
- Explain to customers that they will not be charged for substitutions.
- Deliver during the customer’s time slot.
- Call the customer before arriving if early.
- Call the store/centre if running 30 minutes or more late.
Qualifications
- Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit.
- Be warm and welcoming in interactions with customers and colleagues.
- Respond quickly to changing customer needs and embrace change within the store.
- Be energetic and driven to deliver beyond expectations, balancing home and work.
- Share ideas with managers and colleagues to improve the store for customers.
- Hold a UK/EU/EEA driving licence (Full or Automatic only) for at least 12 months with no more than three penalty points.
- Adhere to GB Domestic Driving Rules.
