Job Description At AECOM we have a number of exciting opportunities across the UK & Ireland for graduates to work within our Transport Planning Team. We provide advice and support to address the challenges facing society, environment and the economy. Our team covers all areas of transport planning, including transport strategy development, transport modelling and appraisal, feasibility studies, business case development, development planning, and monitoring and evaluation. For many of our projects, we work collaboratively with colleagues across AECOM’s many disciplines, including planners, designers, architects, engineers, regeneration and environmental specialists. The majority of our projects are based in the North of England, but we also support offices across the UK and Ireland and undertake some national and international work. We are looking for an ambitious team player who wishes to assist in developing and communicating proposals for transport schemes and strategies, working in a collaborative environment. The role would suit a self-motivated individual looking to begin their career in a dynamic team helping to solve real-world, practical, challenges. We will, of course, provide you with all the training and support you need to progress your career and develop professionally. You will be working within a positive culture where learning and development is not only supported, but also actively promoted. Early work with us will typically be supporting senior staff with technical input into a variety of projects. Key responsibilities will include: Data collection and analysisDevelopment of transport strategies and plansDeveloping and applying transport modelsScheme development and appraisalPreparation of transport assessments for developmentsPreparation of business cases for transport schemesAssisting in the preparation of reports, presentations, bids and proposalsAttending meetings and workshops with clients, other discipline members and stakeholders. Qualifications A Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Geography, Economics, Maths, or an MSc in Transport Planning with a 2:1 classification (or equivalent) or aboveA Masters degree in Civil Engineering, Geography, Economics, Maths, or Transport Planning would be an advantageTransport Planning modules or experience would be an advantageAbility to demonstrate a good technical understanding of Transport PlanningDemonstrable interest in Transport Planning and developing a career in this industryWilling and able to work towards chartership with the TPS, CIHT, or ICEGood Microsoft Office skills essential such as Word, Excel & PowerPointAbility to communicate effectively to internal and external clients, both verbally & in writing with the confidence to engage with a variety of people (clients, colleagues, stakeholders and sub-contractors alike) and the aptitude to rationally explain, explore and discuss technical issues and capture feedbackEnthusiastic, hard-working, with ambition and driveAbility to structure & prioritise work effectively through close cooperation with the team as a wholeAbility to work in a team and independently without losing initiative & focus Additional Information Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible since CVs will be reviewed, and candidates selected on a rolling recruitment basis for either immediate or advanced offer start.Please include a covering letter with your application and provide all predicted and/or obtained academic grades and details of the dates you are able to work to/from and well as locations you would be interested in.You must have the right to work in the UK.
