Job Overview

EYST is partnering with Codi to deliver the Green Careers Pathway Project, a National Lottery Community Fund initiative that supports young people in Swansea to progress into green careers. The Project Support Officer will work directly with clients aged 16‑30 to overcome career barriers, build confidence and develop skills relevant to sustainability, climate resilience and environmental restoration.

  • Location: EYST Headquarters, Swansea (in‑person work required)
  • Travel: Required across the Swansea region
  • Reporting to: EYST Strategic Youth Team Lead

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver personalised coaching and group workshops to build confidence and employability skills.
  • Support the delivery of tailored training, mentorship and job‑ready skill development.
  • Engage young people, prioritising those from under‑represented groups, and facilitate their participation in green initiatives.
  • Identify, organise and support work placements and volunteering opportunities in the green sector.
  • Provide ongoing in‑work support up to one year post‑placement to retain jobs and promote career progression.
  • Collate and analyse participant progress data, prepare reports for policy and funding purposes.
  • Promote equality, diversity, equity and inclusion across all aspects of the project.
  • Ensure safeguarding, data protection, equal opportunities and other relevant EYST policies are upheld.
  • Maintain administrative and financial records in line with EYST systems.
  • Represent the project at partner network meetings and present progress reports to the EYST Board and funders.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • At least one year of experience working with ethnic minority communities, preferably in Wales.
  • Strong community engagement skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • In‑depth knowledge of the challenges faced by diverse ethnic minority communities in Wales regarding employability.
  • Good knowledge of green careers and sustainability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and digital skills (Email, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Zoom).
  • Experience monitoring projects and recording client support using a CRM system.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and willingness to contribute to policy and practice development.
  • Self‑motivated, deadline driven and able to work under pressure in a high‑intensity environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel across the Swansea region.

Other Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS check.
  • Proof of permission to work in the UK.
