Ward have an opportunity for a front end loader to join our Compaction team based at our site in Ilkeston, DE7 8HX.
The role will involve 50-60 hours of work each week and so a can‑do attitude, reasonable level of physical fitness and flexible approach is important. It might be necessary to work some of your hours at a weekend if we are providing bins to festivals and events over the summer. You’ll be paid an overtime rate for any hours worked above 40 each week and you’ll be paid weekly.

Key Responsibilities
- Full driving license and previous experience as a Front End Loader driver
- Inspecting vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform
- Understanding of geographical working area
- Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
- Document and log work/rest periods and kilometres spent driving
- Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
- Collect and verify delivery instructions
- Ability to prioritise tasks
- Ability to plan and organise your own workload
- Accurate, conscientious and self‑motivated
- Ability to use initiative and make decisions
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Knowledge of manual handling techniques

Skills and Knowledge Required
- Driver’s Licence C or C+E
- Current DCPC Card
- Good geographical knowledge
- Proven work experience as a Front End Loader driver
- Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc)
- Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
- No recent moving or driving violations
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc)
- Manoeuvre trucks into loading or unloading positions
- Ability to prioritise tasks
- Ability to plan and organise your own workload
- Accurate, conscientious and self‑motivated
