Project Architect with Heritage and Conservation experience

Overview

James Clague Architects, part of the Latchmere House Partnership, is seeking an Architect to join its team in Canterbury, Kent.

Responsibilities

• The role covers projects from concept through to completion.• Work closely with James Clague (Managing Director) and the James Clague Architect team on all aspects of design to completion.

Qualifications and Skills

• At least 2 years’ post-Part 3 experience as a UK‑registered architect, with essential experience working on heritage, conservation, and listed building projects.
• Strong AutoCAD skills.
• Strong technical design skills, with experience preparing clear, accurate, and buildable drawing and construction packages.
• Good knowledge of UK Building Regulations, construction principles, and listed building/conservation requirements.
• Experience coordinating with consultants.
• Proactive, organised, and able to manage workload effectively with minimal supervision.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work well with colleagues, consultants, and clients.
• Enthusiastic, detail‑focused, and motivated to develop professionally within a design‑led practice.

Contract & Salary

Type of Contract: Permanent Full Time (UK based applicants only). Salary: Dependent on experience.

Location & Accessibility

Applicants need to be local to the office (within about 30 miles) and have the use of a car, UK Driving Licence required.
