Forward Deployed Software Engineer

Overview

Forward Deployed Software Engineer (FDSE) – a unique role that embeds engineers directly with customers to tackle the most pressing challenges. FDSEs architect and build solutions that leverage business-critical data and the latest advancements in AI to solve real‑world problems, delivering impact at the intersection of technology and global change.

Core Responsibilities

• Collaborate with fellow engineers on architecture and design decisions.
• Wrangle massive‑scale data and use AI to accelerate and enhance critical operations.
• Develop custom applications tailored to customer needs.
• Engage with customer stakeholders, from technical teams to executives.
• Shape team strategy and drive projects from ideation to deployment, delivering tangible value.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering background, preferably in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, or Data Science.
• Highly analytical mindset with eagerness to solve technical problems using data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, front‑end frameworks, and other technical tools.
• Experience or interest in working with large‑scale data to solve valuable business problems.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, TypeScript/JavaScript, or similar.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in teams of technical and non‑technical individuals, comfortable in a rapidly changing, dynamic environment.
• Ability to learn continuously, work independently, and make decisions with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to travel as needed to client sites; 25–50% travel preferred though requirements vary by team and location.
