Paul Smith is one of Britain’s leading independent design companies, driven by a spirit of curiosity, playfulness, adaptability and passion. These values shape every aspect of the brand, whether it’s a shirt, a shop or a special collaboration. Reaffirming the values that Paul set down in 1970, ‘classic with a twist’ remains the guiding principle of the company. Happily positioned between high fashion and formalwear, while taking reference from both, Paul Smith has always been proud to stand apart.
We are looking for an experienced IT Security Specialist. You’ll take ownership for our cybersecurity strategy end-to-end, from defining policy and architecture to hands‑on incident response, acting as the primary security interface for external partners. You will play a critical role in building a security‑conscious culture throughout the organisation (retail stores, warehouse operations and head offices), ensuring that colleagues at every level understand their responsibilities and the part they play in keeping our business safe.
What you’ll be doing
- Develop and deliver Paul Smith’s cybersecurity strategy, policies and roadmap, ensuring security supports business objectives.
- Manage cyber risk, compliance and governance, including GDPR, Business Continuity and Incident Response planning.
- Monitor, investigate and respond to security incidents, maintaining robust security controls across infrastructure, cloud services, applications and identity management.
- Lead vulnerability management and penetration testing programmes, driving continuous improvement of our security posture.
- Build strong relationships with managed security providers, technology partners, auditors and third‑party suppliers.
- Champion a security‑first culture by delivering engaging awareness programmes and providing expert guidance to colleagues across retail, warehouse and head office teams.
- Provide security expertise throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring new technologies and business initiatives are secure by design.
- Stay ahead of the evolving threat landscape, supporting audits, recommending improvements and driving best practice across the organisation.
Who you are
- Proven experience in an IT Security, Cybersecurity or Information Security role.
- Experience developing and implementing cybersecurity strategies, policies and security controls.
- Strong knowledge of security operations, incident response, vulnerability management and risk assessment.
- Experience working with cloud technologies, Identity & Access Management (IAM) and Microsoft security solutions.
- A good understanding of security standards, compliance and data protection legislation, including GDPR.
- Experience managing third‑party security providers, vendors or external auditors.
- Able to translate business objectives into a coherent security strategy and communicate it across all levels of the organisation.
- Skilled at driving security behaviours and compliance across teams that don’t directly report to you.
- Can balance security best practice with business pragmatism, prioritising effort and investment where it matters most.
- Able to build strong working relationships across IT, operational teams and external partners; seen as a go‑to resource for security guidance.
- Keeps up with the evolving threat landscape and proactively updates controls, training and processes accordingly.
