Software Engineer, IAM Stores Security

Build the libraries, collection infrastructure, and streaming systems to make security observable across Amazon—capturing billions of events per second. We are hiring SDEs to work on internal frameworks, build ingestion pipelines, and own end‑to‑end platforms that power threat detection and AI security monitoring at scale.

Key job responsibilities

• Design and maintain client‑side libraries and frameworks that instrument services with security logging at minimal developer effort.
• Build and operate distributed streaming infrastructure that collects, normalizes, and delivers security events at massive scale.
• Define and evolve event schemas that balance security coverage needs against producer adoption.
• Develop monitoring and detection capabilities for AI/ML workloads in a fast‑moving space.
• Write clean, well‑tested, production‑ready code with automated testing, continuous deployment, and observability as standard.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation, investigating operational issues, performing root cause analysis, and driving long‑term fixes.
• Mentor teammates through code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience (non‑internship) in professional software development.
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object‑oriented design.
• Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Experience working in a cloud‑based development and production environment such as AWS.
