Job Overview

Three Band 5 Nurses are required for a 12‑month secondment on the Intensive Care team at Frimley Park Hospital. This role will cover maternity leave and secondment positions as part of a structured Band 5 Critical Care development programme.

The Critical Care unit has 12 beds and cares for Level 2 (HDU) and Level 3 (ITU) patients. Flexible working patterns are offered, including short and long shifts with a rota that includes night duty.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care in collaboration with specialist and senior clinical staff.
  • Contribute to setting, monitoring and evaluation of patient care standards.
  • Support and promote health and well‑being initiatives.
  • Maintain infection prevention and control standards.
  • Deliver high standards of patient care based on evidence‑based practice and current research.
  • Participate in ongoing monitoring and evaluation of nursing care.
  • Maintain accurate, legible, comprehensive patient records in line with Trust and NMC standards.
  • Escalate and communicate incidents, complaints or team‑related issues to the Team Leader as appropriate.
  • Work in accordance with Trust policies, procedures and professional nursing standards.
  • Maintain and develop the professional portfolio and personal development profile.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RGN) level 1 or level 2.
  • Current NMC registration.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Mentorship qualification.
  • I.V. training.

Experience

Essential Experience

  • Relevant post‑registration experience.
  • Experience in any hospital‑based care environment.

Desirable Experience

  • Acute ward experience.
  • Working with multi‑disciplinary teams.

Skills
