We are seeking an experienced intensive care nurse for bank work in a critical care setting (ICU/HDU) at Epsom and St Helier University NHS Hospitals.
Our ICU/HDU units provide care for patients requiring emergency/scheduled surgery, acute medical patients, renal support, elective surgery and enhanced recovery programmes. The role involves working across both sites, with the ability to flex beds to meet service needs.
Key responsibilities include delivering high‑standard holistic patient care, supporting the multidisciplinary team, and participating in bedside teaching.
Key responsibilities
- Provide quality and holistic care to critically ill patients and their families, in line with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
- Coordinate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Act as a resource for peers, patients, relatives, and other staff groups.
- Manage own workload, prioritise care and operate under the supervision of senior staff.
- Report incidents and serious untoward clinical events, completing relevant documentation and cooperating with investigations.
- Ensure accurate record‑keeping and effective use of IT systems.
- Stay up to date with clinical developments and current issues relevant to critical care and the Trust.
- Participate proactively in unit and nursing service development and governance activities.
- Be prepared to work at either Epsom General Hospital or St Helier Hospital ICU/HDU as required.
Qualifications and experience
- Experience working in a critical care (ICU/HDU) setting.
- Valid NMC registration.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Completion of a Specialist Critical Care Course (60 credits).
- Valid IV drug certificate and recent critical care experience in an acute care setting.
