Band 7 Rotational Pharmacist – Specialist Clinical Pharmacist

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work across all sections of the pharmacy service – dispensary, ward/clinical pharmacy, education & training, and technical services. The role requires:
- Contributing to the development of pharmaceutical services and promoting high standards of professional practice.
- Delivering a clinical commitment during all rotations.
- Participating in an internal structured training programme and mentorship scheme.
Person specification
Education and qualifications
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- M Pharm or equivalent.
- Completion of all elements of the Foundation Stage 1 PG Dip (Certificate) or an equivalent qualification.
- Non‑Medical Prescriber qualification.
Skills and abilities
- Work methodically under pressure.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with all disciplines, colleagues, and patients.
- Deal sympathetically and courteously with patients and the general public.
- Work both as part of a team and independently.
- Prioritise and manage own workload and that of junior staff.
- Perform hands‑on aseptic work.
- Provide CPD and demonstrate continuous professional development.
Experience
- Training and development of junior staff.
- Use of own initiative and dealing with queries from department users.
- Direct interaction with the public, senior clinicians, and health service staff.
- Recent clinical or ward pharmacy experience.
- Understanding of formulary, DUR, and clinical trial issues.
- Computer literacy and knowledge of health and safety issues.
- Line management or supervisory experience.
- Flexibility with work schedule changes and ability to perform late duty, weekend duties, and bank holidays rota.
- Interest in developing others and expanding knowledge.
- Aware of equal opportunities principles.
