Salary: £40,000 – £60,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: 45 hours per week | Full Time | Additional hours and weekend work required during busy periods

Job Role – Workshop / Service Manager (Engineering & Agricultural Machinery Industry)
As a Workshop / Service Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of a busy workshop specialising in agricultural transmissions, engine rebuilds, machinery maintenance, and repairs. You will lead a skilled team of engineers, manage workshop scheduling, and ensure customer expectations are consistently exceeded within the engineering and agricultural machinery industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and scheduling all incoming workshop jobs
- Allocating workloads to engineers to maximise efficiency and productivity
- Leading, mentoring, and supporting the engineering team
- Working closely with the Parts Manager to prioritise parts requirements
- Monitoring job progress to ensure work is completed on time and to a high standard
- Ensuring labour hours and parts are accurately allocated to each job
- Signing off completed work ready for customer invoicing
- Liaising with customers alongside company directors, providing updates on repair progress
- Maintaining workshop Health & Safety procedures and ensuring compliance
- Promoting a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment
- Supporting continuous improvement across workshop operations
Requirements
Essential
- Previous experience managing a workshop or service department
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent organisational and planning abilities
- Confident using modern IT systems
- Excellent communication skills with both customers and colleagues
- Self‑motivated with the ability to lead and develop a successful team
- Professional appearance and attitude
Desirable
- Strong mechanical knowledge of agricultural machinery or plant equipment
- Experience within agricultural engineering, heavy plant, commercial vehicles, or a similar engineering environment
Pay & Working Hours
- £40,000 – £60,000 per annum (depending on experience)
