Position Title: REF Impact Evidence and Evaluation Manager (Internal applicants only)
Employment Type: Full-time or part-time (minimum 0.8 FTE)
Contract Type: Fixed-term contract (August 2026 – July 2027)
Salary: £43,482 to £46,049 per annum pro rata on Grade F, depending on knowledge, skills and experience.
Location: Exeter (Hybrid)
About The Role
This role is key within our Performance and REF team, responsible for coordinating the delivery of the University’s submission to national research evaluations (e.g. REF), developing associated policies, leading approaches to research and impact assessment, and monitoring performance. It also provides insight and expertise to inform and enhance institutional research information systems and performance insights.
About You
- You have experience working in a research or impact support role, ideally collecting evidence or undertaking impact evaluations to demonstrate the impact of research.
- You have a good understanding of the range of potential research impact, including how it can be tracked and evidenced in preparation for future REF impact case studies.
- You have a good understanding of how systems can be used to support colleagues in planning and capturing evidence of impact.
- You possess excellent communication skills, enabling effective collaborations that stimulate the trust, confidence and enthusiasm of the academic community, partner organisations and external bodies.
- You can work effectively with staff at all levels and across all academic disciplines.
- You have a good understanding of the higher education sector.
- You have excellent attention to detail.
- You can work on your own initiative and are adept at problem‑solving.
