GKN Aerospace is re‑imagining air travel. We are looking for a Logistics Specialist to be based at our Luton site and support both our Defence and Civil business lines. The role reports to the Logistics Team Leader and involves ensuring the department meets business requirements and sales targets while working closely with other Supply Chain functions.
Job Summary
Based at our Luton manufacturing plant, the Logistics Specialist will support inbound/receiving, internal material movements, warehousing, outbound/shipping, freight/transport management, cycle counting, inventory management, transactional activities and packaging.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe working environment.
- Complete logistics tasks with objectives of reducing lead‑time, cost, and improving customer service, quality and delivery.
- Maintain good working relationships with supporting departments such as Finance, Operations, Commercial, Purchasing, and Supply Chain.
- Process transactional activities to guarantee inventory accuracy in the management system (ERP, MRP).
- Manage finished goods/stock and process customer purchase orders, arrange shipping delivery and invoicing.
- Obtain documents to meet business/HMRC regulations.
- Process Inward Processing (IP) internal records.
- Process scrap.
- Book transport and maintain relationships with couriers/freight forwarders.
What You’ll Bring
Essential
- Administration experience (or ability to fulfill administration tasks).
- Competency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Office.
Desirable
- Logistics experience gained from a manufacturing environment.
- Shipping processing experience using ERP systems.
- Experience arranging transport for collection/delivery.
- SAP experience.
